Mom's Place

201 North Maple Avenue Purcellville, VA 20132

Phone: (540) 338-3555

The Basics
Atmosphere: Repainted and rearraged. It still has Mario's murals on the wall. Other wise the decor is very basic with a few antique items hung on the wall. An Example of where simple is good!
Family Friendly:  Yes, and a great childrens menu for 12 and under
Vegetarian: Yes, several different items on the menu.
Dress: Casual

COST
You can easily spend 8 to 10 on the lunch menu and 12-20 dollars per person without mixed drinks on the dinner menu

MENU
The menu does not offer the large selections we have become use to at many restaurants, but there are still quite a few good choices and there is something there for everyone, including pizza and dare we say it... Liver and Onions.

FOOD QUALITY
Dinner presentation is well thought out, very tasty and well flavored; lunch is less formal, and in both cases the portions are good sized.

SERVICE
The waitresses were very attentive, only once we had to ask for a refill. At dinner the food was a bit slower in coming out than lunch, but at the same time it was hot, and freshly prepared.

REVIEW
Mom's Place is not Mario's 2.  It is a whole new restaurant, and it appears to be offering the approach that folks will pay for well prepared food with ample portions.  The only area  where we were  disappointed was in the garden salad. It was mostly lettuce with a cucumber slice, tomato wedge, and a bit of onion. Even in writing, it sounds like more than it was.  That being said, the bread that accompainies the meal was TERRIFIC!!!  The food did seem to take a while to prepare. Everyone got a different entree, and everyone was happy. The open roastbeef sandwich was a big hit. As was the chicken marsala served with angel hair pasta.  The sauteed pork tenderloins are served with a slice of ham in the middle, and the house meatloaf was very good as well.  All in all an enjoyable meal, worth the price.
During Lunch, everything was okay, the service was a bit slower, but the waitress still seemed to be learning the ropes.

Presentation, Preparation, Portion; These are the big 3 in creating the Pleasure one receives from dining out. They are also Key Elements in justifying the Price.  Have these P's with every meal.
